IPL Photofacial Laser Resurfacing

At Colorado Plastic Surgery we understand that our patients may desire a freshening of their skin’s appearance or may have concerns about skin imperfections, however you may not be a candidate for or have the time for a more invasive skin laser resurfacing treatment. The Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial treatment effectively reduces the signs of skin aging and treats various surface imperfections without the hassle of downtime.

MirrorHow IPL Photofacial Works

The IPL Photofacial, or IPL laser, emits a laser light that travels through the superficial layers of the skin to interact with the deeper layers of the skin, the dermis. Pigmented areas of the skin in the dermis absorb the light where the light converts to heat causing a breakup of the pigmented cells. These cells then slough off of the surface of the skin over a following few days.

The IPL Photofacial also repairs broken capillaries and treats facial redness. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the blood and collapses the unwanted capillaries.

  • The IPL laser effectively treats:
  • Acne
  • Rosacea
  • Freckles
  • Broken Capillaries
  • Age spots and sun damage

IPL Photofacial is commonly used on the hands, face, neck and décolleté, however it can effectively treat any area of the skin.

Your IPL Photofacial Appointment

During your initial skin care appointment, our Medical Aesthetician will perform a skin analysis and take photos using our Reveal skin photo system to analyze underlying photo damage to determine your treatment plan based on skin type and desired results. A series of 2-4 treatments are typical required to achieve desired results and the skin rejuvenation process will continue for 7-14 days following each treatment.

If you are considering the IPL Photofacial treatment, please contact us to schedule a consultation at our office in the Denver, Colorado area to learn if it is right for you.
