CO2 Laser Resurfacing
As we age the effects of time, the sun, hormones, stress and life’s vices can take a toll on our skin. Colorado Plastic Surgery Center offers a skin rejuvenation treatment option to repair the damage and enhance the health and appearance of your skin, the Carbon Dioxide (CO2) fractional ablative laser.
The fractional C02 laser is a skin resurfacing treatment for deep lines, acne scarring and pigmentation issues. The C02 laser emits short bursts of high-intensity light to selectively targeted areas of the skin. The light emissions remove surface layers of damaged skin boosting collagen growth and tightening the treated skin.
The most common results of C02 laser resurfacing include:
- Tightening/plumping of the skin
- Removal of acne scars
- Lightening of age spots and sun damage
- Softening of fine lines and wrinkles
Treatments are commonly performed on the face, neck, décolleté or hands and may be performed in conjunction with other cosmetic surgery procedures to eliminate multiple recovery periods. Typically two or more treatments are needed to achieve desired results.
The CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing Procedure
Patients receive an initial skin consultation with our licensed Medical Aesthetician to determine candidacy for CO2 laser skin resurfacing. Using our Reveal Imager to show underlying sun damage and aging of the potential treatment area, our Aesthetician will create a laser resurfacing package that is suited to your skin type and goals.
At Colorado Plastic Surgery Center, our treatment plans go beyond the actual procedure to include a complete package system insuring you achieve the best possible results. Included in each CO2 laser resurfacing package are post-treatment care products. Patients will begin the pre-treatment skin care system one month prior to their first treatment. This system gently prepares the skin by sloughing old, damaged cells conditioning and strengthening the skin prior to laser resurfacing.
The day of the laser procedure, patients are numbed with a topical numbing cream to ensure comfort during the procedure. Each treatment area takes approximately 90 minutes.
