What is Recovery Like?

Anytime your body experiences weight gain or weight loss, some stretching and laxity occur to the skin, tissue, and muscles. Luckily, Dr. Nick Slenkovich is here to help. As a father himself, he understands the demands of childbirth can put on a woman’s body. He is dedicated to helping mothers regain their pre-pregnancy body contours through individualized combinations of advanced plastic surgery treatments. At Colorado Plastic Surgery Center’s beautifully appointed Denver cosmetic surgery facility, all Mommy Makeover patients are treated with the deepest respect and understanding. This approach greatly reduces patients’ anxiety and promotes highly rewarding treatment results.

Brazilian butt lift is an outpatient procedure, but you will need your caretaker to drive you home and be there to support you for a week to ten days.
Wear your garments as instructed by Dr. Slenkovich. These provide support to the areas where liposuction was performed as well as the buttocks. You may remove them for showers.
Limit the amount of time you sit directly on your buttocks for the first 1-2 weeks post-surgery. Sit only when necessary with a pillow or cushion to avoid direct pressure on your buttocks.
Walk as soon as possible post-procedure to reduce swelling and increase circulation to lower the risk of blood clots.

Work: Most patients return to work within two weeks following their procedure.
Sleeping: Avoid pressure on your buttocks by sleeping on your stomach or sides.
Exercise: Avoid strenuous exercise and activities for 4-8 weeks.

Week 1-2: No cardio or strength training exercises. We do want you walking to continue to get the blood flowing. Yoga-like stretching is also recommended.
Week 3-5: You may perform light cardio on the elliptical or stationary bike (if the seat is comfortable). Fast-paced walking is also an available option.
Week 6-8: More vigorous exercise activities may be resumed as long as you have recovered optimally. This includes running, sports activities, and weight lifting/strength training.

Consultation

Examine where the fat will be harvested from and learn about Dr. Slenkovich’s sculpting techniques.

Consultation: Dr. Slenkovich and our patient coordinator will talk with you about your goals, answer any questions you may have, review your medical history, and develop a customized surgical plan. During your Denver butt augmentation consultation, Dr. Slenkovich will examine your body and speak with you about the sites for liposuction as well as fat transfer. He will also work with you to determine the ideal area to harvest excess fat from as well as the magnitude of the results you can expect. He will go over his surgical technique, including the sculpting of the lower back and buttocks, to achieve a round shape. Pricing and surgical dates for your specific surgical plan will be discussed. Pre-Op

Pre-operative Appointment: During your pre-op appointment, you will meet with our nurse, Ari, to prepare for your procedure. She will go over your medical history, medications, and allergies, as well as go over your lab work, record your vital signs, and take your “before” pictures. She will answer any additional questions you may have and thoroughly review what to expect for your surgery and recovery. Dr. Slenkovich will also meet with you to finalize your surgical plan and answer any questions. This is also a good time to add vitamin and protein supplements to your routine to prepare your body for optimal healing after surgery if you have not already done so.

Surgery

Outpatient procedure at Surgery Center of Colorado

Surgery: On the day of your procedure, you will arrive approximately 2 hours prior to your scheduled surgery time at our outpatient operating facility, Surgery Center of Colorado. Conveniently connected to Dr. Slenkovich’s Colorado Plastic Surgery Center clinic, you will find the same devoted and friendly staff and a comfortable, private environment, designed to provide you with exceptional care. Our surgery center holds a State of Colorado Licensure, as well as AAAASF certification, which ensures adherence to the strictest healthcare and safety protocols.

3 Days to 1 Week Post-Op: 1st Perioperative and postoperative appointments. You will come in for your 1st post-op appointment with Ari, where she will answer any questions that have come up about the recovery process and check how your body is healing. You will also have your 1st Perioperative therapy appointment with our massage therapist, Pam, where she will begin light lymphatic therapy along with tissue massages to help speed up recovery from the liposuction and fat transfer by reducing swelling and bruising. The number of peri-operative sessions will depend on how much liposuction is done during the procedure. She will give you and your caregiver instructions to begin light self-massage at home.
1 Week to 2 Weeks Post-Op: 1st Perioperative Appointments. You will come in for your second post-op appointment with Ari and your second peri-operative massage with Pam. Pam will go into more detail during this appointment to show you how to self-massage to speed up your recovery process.
2-3 Weeks Post-Op: You will be able to begin sitting for longer periods of time. Move into a lighter compression garment. Gradually, you will be able to begin sitting directly on the sit bones for longer periods of time. With Ari's permission, it will also be time to switch to a lighter compression garment. Staying active, walking, and moving around frequently to help your body heal is important.
6 Weeks Post-Op: Follow up and complimentary skincare or Botox® treatment. Gradually return to full activity. At your 6-week follow-up appointment, you will be examined by Dr. Slenkovich and either given clearance to return to normal activities or instructed to keep utilizing the self-massage techniques taught by Pam. An additional peri-operative massage appointment may be recommended. This is also a great opportunity to use your complimentary skin care or Botox® treatment with Andrea, our medical aesthetician and licensed injector.
6 Months Post-Op: Follow-up appointment, take after pictures. At your 6-month follow-up appointment, we will again examine your results and healing progress. During this appointment, you will have your first set of “After” photos taken for a before-and-after comparison.
1 Year Post-Op: Follow-up appointment and take after pictures for final results. At your one-year follow-up appointment, Dr. Slenkovich will review long-term care instructions and how to best maintain your final results. During this appointment, we will also take your final “After” photos and create a before-and-after comparison to evaluate your end results.
