The Aging Lips

As we age, we begin to loose collagen and fat from our face, including our lips! This loss of volume can cause lips to look thin, as well as rolled in and under. Our nurse injectors are able to enhance their appearance with her “Lip Flip” injection technique that rolls the lip outward to display more of the natural pink lip tissue. Additional volume can be added to the lips to even out irregularities and asymmetries, as well as adding some volume.

Above are examples of “aging lips”. This 50-year-old professional woman and physician began experiencing thinning in her face and lips. Lauren performed a lip enhancement using injections of Perlane, as part of an overall liquid facelift treatment. By injecting the outer rim of the lips, the upper and lower lips flip revealing more of the pink lip tissue. Additional filler was placed in the center of areas of the top and bottom lips to fill out the shape. In addition, volume was added to the bottom lip to provide a symmetry to the upper lip to create an overall natural appearance to the lips.
