Day 1 after Liposuction
Honestly the day after my Liposuction I felt relatively well, I mean after someone beat you with a baseball bat well. The fluid had begun to subside which was a God send and the maxi pads where taking care of the majority of what little fluid that was still oozing from the incision sites. I was able to get in the shower and clean up and honestly walking around a bit did help me feel a little better. I tried to do a little work from home. I really don’t advice this. Just take it easy and relax.
Our therapist from, Pam, was so amazing and came to my house to get started on my peri-operative therapy. I have so many patients that ask me if it is worth doing and want to possibly take the sessions out of their quote. Honestly after experiencing peri-operative therapy after surgery DO NOT remove them. It is so worth it, my swelling and bruising started to go down almost right away. I would hold Pam hostage if I didn’t think that anyone would miss her.
Day 2-4 after Liposuction
Bruised and still a bit sore, I was still feeling okay and showering and walking around everyday. I strongly suggest getting another garment or having a back-up garment during any washing which will definitely be needed. I felt much better in the garment then without it, so I was not willing to give up my “Scuba Steve suit” quite yet. To be honest, I really don’t remember much as these days were a little bit of a haze filled with tons of sleep. I also learned that I give really great love advice while on pain medications and trying to recoup. 🙂
Day 5-6 after Liposuction
By this time it is Monday and I am heading back to work five days after my Liposuction procedure. I was definitely getting around much slower than my usual speed. It was a little tough to go back and try to hit it full throttle on day six (the previous day had wiped me out), but I survived the day. That night ibuprofen was not going to cut it, so the pain meds were definitely pulled back out to survive the next couple of nights.
Day 7 after Liposuction
I did take this day off and I don’t think that I left my bed all day except to answer the door for the delivery man. I was feeling a little swollen, and sore from working the previous days ( I never realized how much walking around I do on a day to day basis). While I can honestly say that you can realistically go back to work five days after Liposuction, I would still recommend to patients to take an extra couple of day to let your body recoup. Rest is still the best medicine after any surgery, including cosmetic surgery!
Day 8 after Liposuction
I woke up feeling like the old me again, okay maybe the 70-year-old version of me. I was still a bit sore, but I felt ready to get back to everyday life and activity. I have always had the thought that we are performing surgery, not a trip at the day spa, so I know that your body has to recover and heal. However, at this time was I starting to feel like maybe I had visited a day spa and only got a little more painful procedure. I was definitely well rested by this point and I was able to just take ibuprofen to help with the discomfort that I still had. I also felt like the Arnica was helping immensely, not to mention that I stole Pam for another peri-operative therapy.
By the end of week on, my best piece of advice is treat yourself to a spa day. Go and get a mani-pedi and treat yourself. It is amazing when you feel like you look good then you feel so much better even though under your clothes you are packed into a garment and may still be somewhat bruised. I was definitely still in the healing process and had some spots that had some swelling and bruises left behind, but I felt like I am definitely on the road to recovery. It had seemed that I had just gone around the bend though and couldn’t wait to see the final results from all of the hard work from the staff at Colorado Plastic Surgery Center. For the first time in my life I was actually looking forward to bikini season!
And the results? I couldn’t be happier!
