Contouring the Curves
The beauty of the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure is the combined effects shaping the waistline, lower back and buttocks. Everyone’s body is different and goals vary from person to person. Liposuction is the starting point, and I focus on sculpting an aesthetic appearance to the full trunk, and then fat is transferred to optimize the curves and contours of the waistline, hips and buttocks. If a patient only desires a more aesthetic shape, I will fill the sides and upper aspect of the buttocks. If the goal is also to add volume, I will then work to fill the full body of the buttocks.
How Much Fat Can I Transfer?
The amount of fat that I transfer varies depending on how much fat is available, as well as what is needed to meet the goals of each patient. Every patient is different, and some are seeking filling and rounding of a narrow buttock shape while others truly want to maximize shape and size. I’ve seen excellent results in achieving our goals for surgery with transferring as little as 150-200cc per side to as much as 1200cc or more per side. It really is about harmonizing and showing-off your figure by shaping and enhancing the curves.
What is Recovery Like?
Post-Op Care: Although the Brazilian Butt Lift is an outpatient procedure, you will need a caregiver to help you, particularly for the first 24 hours. You will need to wear a garmet after your procedure to support the areas where liposuction and fat transfer was performed. It is important to walk after your surgery to reduce swelling and increase circulation, as this will lower the risk of blood clots.
Sitting: I recommend limiting sitting on the buttocks in the first one to two weeks after surgery, and when sitting is required that you sit on a well-padded seat for short periods of less than 10 minutes. If further sitting is required, you can try to sit on a pillow that is under your thighs, although this tends to be uncomfortable for long periods. I believe that once you have reached 10 days to 2 weeks, that there is much less likelihood of causing a decrease in fat survival or your results from sitting, but I still recommend taking frequent breaks.
Work: Most patients return to work within 1-2 weeks following their procedure.
Exercise:
- Week 1-2: No cardio or strength training exercises. We do want you walking to continue to get the blood flowing. Yoga-like stretching is also recommended.
- Week 3-5: You may perform light cardio on the elliptical or stationary bike (if the seat is comfortable). Fast-paced walking is also an available option.
- Week 6-8: More vigorous exercise activities may be resumed as long as you have recovered optimally. This includes running, sports activities, and weight lifting/strength training.
