Let’s face it. During the winter months your skin can look, well… dull. Where, oh where did that summer glow go?
Wintertime is for snow days, hitting the slopes, and cozy nights near the fire. But it’s not all fun and games for your skin. Wintertime also means decreased humidity, increased winds and cold temperatures, causing the skin to become dry, dehydrated and susceptible to dullness and damage.
Luckily for all of us there are easy steps you can take to protect your skin from “Old Man Winter”…
1. Avoid Traditional Soaps
These strip the skin of necessary oils, causing moisture-loss, dryness and even flaking.
Instead, use a pH-balanced, gentle cleanser such as PCA Skin Creamy Cleanser (fantastic for Colorado climate, with an extra anti-aging benefit from rose hip seed oil, rich in Vitamin-C!)
2. Apply QUALITY Moisturizer!
Moisturizers with humectants draw in moisture and trap it within. Look for moisturizers that contain urea and glycerin. These will hydrate the skin cells both internally and externally.
Try PCA Skin Hydrating Serum. This is a surefire way to get the hydrating boost your skin is thirsty for.
3. Use a Humidifier
Using a cool mist humidifier, especially at night will leave your skin happy and hydrated in the morning.
4. Drink WATER!
You should be drinking at least 2 liters (half gallon) of water every day. If you’re working out, your body needs even more so don’t hold back on the H2O.
5. Treat Yourself and Your Skin
Schedule an appointment at Colorado Plastic Surgery Center for a hydrating facial to get that glow back!
